I had a pit mix that had cancer years ago. One night, after over a month of not being able to walk without limping, he suddenly got up and walked over to me without a limp and put his head in my lap. Once I petted him and praised him, he got up, walked to his favorite chair and hopped up in it and curled up for about 2-3 minutes. My husband and I watched as he walked into each of our sleeping kids rooms, kissed them on the nose, then went on to our bedroom where he jumped up on the bed and laid down for a few minutes. I told my husband then “I think he’s trying to say goodbye”. The next morning, while I was on the phone, he asked to go outside so my husband let him out. 5 minutes later when we went outside to check on him, he was gone. He didn’t want us to see him die apparently. He was one of the most wonderful, loving dogs we have ever owned.
