When I went vegetarian and later on vegan, I felt the same. I did it reluctantly, unsure of how I could really make an impact.
5 years later, I can’t even count how many people have made the change from just seeing what I eat and how I changed because of it. I really can’t. And that’s not even counting the many messages I’ve received here on Tumblr giving me credit for someone elses veganism.
I would say I’m at least in the thirties by now. And that’s just me!
I wonder how many those “thirty” have affected.
Every gallon of milk not being bought makes a difference. If that’s the only thing holding you back, make the change.
It’s worth it, I promise.
Jessica showed me how easy veganism would be for me; she encouraged me and she acted as a catalyst for me. I know that I’ve personally been that same spark for one person myself in the past year, and many people from tumblr have messaged me as well noting that I showed them information, and perspective, that they haven’t heard before. If anything, actions speak louder than words, (words are amazing as well!) and there are people who don’t subscribe to apathy, ignorance, hubris, etc. and who would/will change if only they knew what was really going on.
Speak your heart and people listen. Love speaks. Compassion speaks. Gradual change is still change. (And that made me think of evolution and I got a mental boner.)
And, the always pertinent and obligatory, “at least I’m fucking trying.”
